Foo: A Cozy and Elegant Home Design

An Exploration of Modernity and Comfort

The design of Foo, created by renowned designer Eric Leung, offers a unique blend of modernity and comfort, creating a cozy and elegant home. With its open spaces, clever storage solutions, and carefully chosen materials, Foo is a true masterpiece in the world of interior design.

The client, a private individual with a passion for art and retro-modern furniture, wanted a space that could serve as both a gallery and a comfortable living area. Eric Leung worked closely with the client to understand her vision and create a design that would meet her needs.

One of the key features of Foo is its seamless flow from one room to another. The design aims to create a continuous space with no dead ends, allowing guests to explore and enjoy the entire apartment. The floors, deliberately uneven and cement-like, add a touch of modernity, while the walls clad in creamy crocodile-look wallpaper bring a sense of elegance and sophistication.

One of the most impressive aspects of Foo is its extensive concealed storage spaces. Despite the neat and seamless appearance, much thought went into each detail to ensure that the client's belongings could be easily stored and accessed. This attention to detail is a testament to Eric Leung's expertise and commitment to creating functional yet beautiful spaces.

The apartment also features a combination of serious, masculine elements and playful, humorous touches. The lift lobby, for example, surprises guests with its all-black marble and low ceiling, creating a sense of intrigue and anticipation. As guests move further into the apartment, they are greeted with light grey textures and a concrete-like appearance, creating a seamless transition from the outside world to the interior space.

The client's private areas, including the bedroom, bathroom, and gym room, can be either one large 800 square-foot space or three distinct rooms. Hidden doors and curtains allow the client to easily transform the space to suit her needs. Large sliding doors, when closed, conceal the owner's private space, ensuring that guests can enjoy the public areas without intruding on the client's privacy.

The use of teak wood throughout the apartment creates a warm and inviting atmosphere, juxtaposing beautifully against the concrete and metal elements. This theme extends from the living room to the bedrooms and even the balcony, creating a sense of cohesion and harmony.

Overall, Foo is a testament to Eric Leung's creativity and attention to detail. The design successfully combines modernity, elegance, and comfort, creating a space that is both functional and visually stunning. It is no wonder that Foo was awarded the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2013, recognizing its outstanding expertise, innovation, and remarkable level of excellence.
